You would know to replace brake shoes the same way you would know with a vehicle. If performance is suffering and adjusting the brakes does not help and there are no other issues causing the poor performance it is probably time to change the brake shoes. Some shoes that have pads that are riveted on should be replaced once the pad wears down to that rivet.

There are different Yates 500 rollers available and they typically have different attachment hole diameters. Looking at the pictures you sent in, it looks like you have a cap that feeds through the front of the roller and attaches using a Wobble Roller Retainer Ring # CE10981 to hold that cap onto the shaft.
You just need to remove the retainer pin to pull of the cap to the roller and measure the diameter of the hole. Then you just need to get a roller with the same size hole.

Do you have idler hubs on your trailer currently? The way to pick out brakes for a trailer that has idler hub and a brake mounting flange is to first find the correct hub drum that fits the spindle and then go with the correct size/rated assemblies for those drums.

The only parts that are replaceable for the Solera Classic Awnings are the gas struts and the support arms per my contact at Lippert. If you need something other than either of those parts then you'll need to replace the entire awning arm.
